The War Against Information Security Threats
The security industry in Asia Pacific is fast evolving. Information
security threats and attacks are becoming exponentially sophisticated,
communicable and threatening. This is further compounded by the
expansion and increasing complexity of current day networks and
applications, resulting in the ever growing number of potential
vulnerabilities.
Nitin Acharekar, director at global growth consulting company Frost &
Sullivan, said, “With many businesses relying on information
technology and the increasing pressures on regulatory compliance, the
information security risks faced by companies are fast becoming not
just an IT concern, but a critical business issue.”
The lines between diverse security functions are blurring by the day.
Convergence and integration are driving the strategic shift as
different security technologies, networking and application
infrastructures are converging onto the same platform. The holy grail
of achieving a secure and intelligent IT infrastructure with
multi-layer proactive protection sets the direction for future
security technology innovations.
In the Asia Pacific region, the continuous development of IT
infrastructure and growing awareness on security issues have brought
about strong growth in the adoption of security solutions. Although
high-end standalone solutions had previously secured the bulk of
spending, the growing range of integrated solutions today appeals to
both, the large enterprises and SMB markets. With customers in the
region becoming increasingly analytical about security investments, it
is vital for vendors to offer comprehensive solutions which are
aligned to organizations’ business needs and processes.
