Prestigious New York Golf Course instals GPS
NEW YORK, NY — 03/08/2006 — Morefar Back O’Beyond golf course in
Brewster, New York has installed wireless cameras to be remotely controlled
65 miles away at their corporate offices in Manhattan over the Internet,
along with the ‘Inforemer’ GPS golf management system. This innovative
technology has been added to increase security at the club and provide a
better golf experience for its members and management. GPS Industries Inc.
(OTC BB: GPSN), a leading innovator of Wi-Fi and GPS-enabled multimedia
communications and management solutions for golf facilities, resorts,
sporting events and residential communities announced on Wednesday.
Morefar is a privately owned and unusual 18-hole course, featuring 25 bronze
sculptures throughout the course telling of its Asian history. Formerly
owned by AIG, Morefar is currently owned by CV Starr International, who
acquired ownership in 2005 under the direction of Mr. Hank Greenberg, former
CEO of AIG.
“We are an exclusive private course, and we knew all our members would
benefit from having a GPS system,” says Ans deBeus, Morefar’s General
Manager. “But we are also very happy with the total software system, and we
are now able to monitor and control our wireless security system from a
secure location far away from the golf course, helping us to bring down
security costs.”
The club’s 500 acres, which includes the golf course, residences and guest
houses in both New York State and Connecticut, are protected by GPSI’s
wireless security cameras with remote viewing capability from anywhere in
the world.
Morefar is one of the first customers of the Internet-based Wi-Fi Total
Business Solution from GPSI. As well as being able to monitor, maintain and
control the cameras remotely, the Club is also able to control the club
entrance gate from Manhattan.
“Morefar Back O’Beyond saw the value of remote wireless security cameras,
along with the ‘Inforemer,’ our industry leading GPS system,” said GPS
Industries CEO & President Bob Silzer, Sr. “Like Morefar, courses around the
world are paying attention to GPSI after our strong presence at Orlando’s
PGA show.”
