Paypal doesn’t like Indians
March 14th 2007: Paypal has decreased the limit of all withdrawals to $500 per month! If that wasn’t enough when I logged in to my account it showed my withdrawal limit as $0.00! Paypal the name that once stood for trust can it be trusted any longer?
Paypal - a definite stand against India
This isn’t a case of few stray cases here and there. There seems to be something really wrong with Paypal when sending payments to India. Mr. Sheth a freelancer based in India who uses Paypal from most of his US clients said “As you might all know by now that I am from India and work as a freelancer. Paypal is perhaps the most suitable mode of payment for me to receive payments from worldwide. Till date I haven’t got any problems with them but last week while I was browsing Digitalpoint forum on March 9th 2007 I came across a thread that Indian paypal users should check their Paypal limit as the limit seems to be dropped down from 2500US$ pm to 500$. “
“I quickly logged into my account and yes ditto same happened to me. I thought it must be a small minor problem with Paypal and it will be solved within few hours. But as it turned out the matter became worse. My monthly withdrawal limit then got changed to 0$ and total withdrawal limit to 0$. Hahahaha. Can you believe it? ‘
Arvind from the Digitalpoint (visit here) thread said we should wait till Tuesday Indian time so that Paypal technical support team can check on it and probably fix it. So I waited. I waited on Saturday , Sunday , Monday..hoping it will be fixed on Tuesday GMT+5.30 time
Someone in the same thread suggested that you should try calling them to fix matters. So I called up today and yes someone did pick up the phone after 10-12 minutes and manually changed my monthly withdrawal limit from 0$ 500$. I said to her but my monthly withdrawal limit is 2500US$. I had withdrawn 2500US$ last month on Feb 23rd and how come my limit got changed so suddenly without any notification. ( though I haven’t received cheque of Feb 23rd yet).
She said it was some technical glitch and would need to escalate the matter to some technical person.
Paypal a very big company, a competitor to Google and much more. They sure need a wake up call. Can they just sit idle on such important matters for weeks?
Update: While I am writing this post I got another reply on the thread stating
I just spoke to the paypal representative.
“Well this is an error from our end and expect the issue to be fixed by Friday or most probably next week.”
This is what he said to me. So I guess, waiting for 1 more week is the solution for us.
Friday…. Its like 3 days from today. Can such a big company like PAYPAL afford to be so negligible in such a matter of prime importance….
Paypal Are you listening……?????
