Nokia ranked as Asia’s No.1 brand in the ‘Media’- Synovate survey 2006
Nokia, a world leader in mobile communication, today announced that it has been ranked Asia’s most trusted brand in the ‘Media’- Synovate survey for 2006. According to Synovate - a Global market research agency and ‘Media’ magazine - the survey is aimed at gauging Asia’s top 1000 brands across 15 product and service categories. Nokia has also emerged as the favorite mobile phone brand across each of the nine Asian markets that were surveyed for this ranking. The nine markets included China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, India and Indonesia.
Respondents in the age group of 15-64 were asked to name the first and second best brands in each of the 15 product and service categories under review. The sample size for the survey was 500 respondents for each market apart from China and India where the sample was increased to 750. The responses were weighted to the population composition of the markets covered within the survey areas, to provide a representative cross-section of society.
The brands with the highest percentage of votes were listed in descending order, with the most popular brand heading each category. For the Top 1,000 list, Media-Synovate calculated the net vote for each specific brand, with only one mention per respondent counting towards the final list as a number of brands appeared in several sub-categories.
The categories that were surveyed included alcohol, financial services, automotives, cameras and electronic goods, clothing/fashion, toiletries/cosmetics, health, personal/business equipment and services, telecommunications, property, travel, food and beverages, sports/hobbies/toys, baby products and household products.
