Exit Signs Vital for Safety in Buildings
Huge skyscrapers and vast industrial compounds dot the landscape in developed societies. Exit signs are a crucial aspect of these sites as they not only enable people to negotiate unfamiliar territory but most importantly provide life-saving directions in case of an emergency. Exit lights come in different forms like electric exit signs, self-luminous exit signs or photoluminescent exit signs but they all need to be well-lit and dependable so that they continue to do their job in event of a black-out or emergency.
There are many different types of exit signs, the most basic being the model which uses electricity to light up. However, it has been noticed often that such exit signs use up a lot of electricity which leads to huge energy bills for the building owner. Moreover in the event of power cuts, they are unable to offers directions when most needed. The solution to such situations lie in self-luminous exit signs which stay lit all the time since they are chemically treated and not dependant on electricity.
Another option is to go for photoluminescent exit signs which absorb the light around them to light themselves and thus show the way to the exit. These make a good choice for both safety as well as energy efficiency reasons as these exit signs do not use up electricity themselves but remain lighted in times of power failure.
