Intel Corporation President and CEO Paul Otellini today outlined new products, chip designs and manufacturing technologies that will enable the company to continue its quickened pace of product and technology leadership.
Speaking to industry leaders, developers and industry watchers at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF), Otellini showed the industry’s first working chips built using 32 nanometer (nm) technology, with transistors so small that more than 4 million of them could fit on the period at the end of this sentence. Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) has launched the Gramjyoti Rural Broadband Project, an initiative to introduce benefits of WCDMA/HSPA technology in rural India and connect communities to high-speed internet services for the first time.
The trial project was launched in early September and will showcase the benefits of a host of mobile broadband applications across 18 villages and 15 towns close to Chennai, in the state of Tamil Nadu.
By creating a stable ecosystem based on leading WCDMA/HSPA technology, Ericsson will provide these communities with high-speed internet so they can access a range of new services including: telemedicine; e-education; e-governance; online local information; voice and video call services; and live TV and entertainment.
The initiative seeks to demonstrate how WCDMA/HSPA technology can be a major catalyst for social and economic empowerment in this developing region, helping to bridge the digital divide and increase productivity and quality of life. Read more
Hong Kong, September 20, 2007 — AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) today announced that Sun Microsystems has awarded a worldwide contract to AT&T, which will be a key global information technology (IT) and prime network management and maintenance provider. Sun also selected AT&T as a provider for a Virtual Private Network (VPN) solution that will integrate Sun locations throughout the world.
AT&T will provide Sun with worldwide network management and maintenance services for a wide area network, a local area network and voice infrastructure in more than 250 facilities located in more than 45 countries.
