A single atom in itself is a form of the entire universe. The entire universe is manifested in it. So says one of the best books I have read in my life “An Autobiography of a Yogi”. The human body is made of several atoms is a universe in itself part of the larger universe. And now Rakesh Mathur (Who is this dude? Remember Junglee and Amazon? That rings a bell, right?) decides to atomize our entire information universe in our pockets. Pockets? Yes if you keep your cell phone in your pocket that is. How about sizing a few million terrabytes of data dividing it by 20,000 times and condensing it to your hard disc. Still not happy. Ok how about condensing the data on the topic of your interest in just a few mega bytes that you can download and view on your cell phone. That sounds nice, right? That what Webaroo's latest invention is all about. Read more

The Enigma of Being Google

‘It takes a long time to bring excellence to maturity’ said Titus Livy. The breed of Steve Jobs and Larry Page seems to have perfected the excellence to maturity path. Apple is one enigma which delivers excellence and then disappears to create another masterpiece. Google has the same gene. Perfection, excellence and masterpiece are metaphors for Google. Like the thoroughly bred topper the enigma of Google lives on. This time there are rumors of a Google Phone. Read more

The change to (or from) Daylight Savings Time is always accompanied with some trauma that comes from the task of resetting all our clocks. It seems that no two timepieces or appliances use the same resetting system (I’m sure that there is a conspiracy at work here to keep us confused at least half the year) and few people are organized enough to find the manuals that come with the microwave, DVD, and alarm clock. For some reason the conspiracy to keep us “Daylight Savings Time Challenged” is most successful at keeping us from being able to reset the clocks in our increasingly complex electronically enhanced cars.

March 14th 2007: Paypal has decreased the limit of all withdrawals to $500 per month! If that wasn't enough when I logged in to my account it showed my withdrawal limit as $0.00! Paypal the name that once stood for trust can it be trusted any longer?

Paypal - a definite stand against India

This isn't a case of few stray cases here and there. There seems to be something really wrong with Paypal when sending payments to India. Mr. Sheth a freelancer based in India who uses Paypal from most of his US clients said "As you might all know by now that I am from India and work as a freelancer. Paypal is perhaps the most suitable mode of payment for me to receive payments from worldwide. Till date I haven’t got any problems with them but last week while I was browsing Digitalpoint forum on March 9th 2007 I came across a thread that Indian paypal users should check their Paypal limit as the limit seems to be dropped down from 2500US$ pm to 500$. Wimax and 3G in India

Wireless Broadband Freedom

It would be an understatement if I say I have been anxiously waiting to get logged on to wireless broadband in India. I am no gizmo freak and prefer the touch of mud to plastic any day. But technology is different and wireless broadband for me means a life of freedom I could only dream of till a few years ago. Like me millions of surfers are waiting with anticipated breath to logon to wireless broadband so that they can access information on the move at speeds over 400 kbps.

The smell of rain

the scorched sand

quenched by

a drop of rain

I am not good at haikus and just made it up. But imagine if I could just sit on the beach in Goa, in the mountains in my absolutely beautiful hometown in Uttaranchal, or just about anywhere and do all the things I ever dreamt of and also run my business. Of course with wireless broadband it is very much possible. But before that another haiku. (I am pretty excited about the prospect of shifting to the mountains and running operations wirelessly. )

cool mountain breeze

caressing my face

soothing my soul

How to run your business sitting on a mountain top?

I bet it can be the title of a bestseller. But in the next few months or perhaps even weeks it can be a reality. First technically what exactly is wireless broadband? Read more
